Grayscale is a term used to describe an image or display that is made up of shades of gray, rather than full color. In a grayscale image, each pixel is represented by a single value that corresponds to the brightness or intensity of that pixel, ranging from 0 (black) to 255 (white), with various shades of gray in between. #grayscale

In printing, it doesn’t have any cyan (C), magenta (M) or yellow (Y). Only variants of black (K) from 1% to 100% K.
Grayscale images can be created by converting a full-color image to grays or by capturing an image in black and white. Grayscale is often used in photography and printing, as well as in computer graphics and image processing, because it can provide a more subtle and sophisticated visual effect than full color. Grayscale is also used in some medical imaging applications, such as X-rays, to provide detailed visual information without the distraction of color.
