Pantone Color Swatches Ending in future updates to Adobe Creative Suite
I’m just learning about it, it seems it has popped up back in December, but just now getting attention as that date in March approaches.
Text in Adobe forums: Future changes to the Pantone Color Libraries:
Pantone is updating their support for Color Libraries that are pre-loaded in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Color. Together, Adobe and Pantone are working to provide users with timely information for a smooth transition towards a revised Pantone color workflow in the coming months. Please stay tuned for updates.
I would search for all of your Pantone * .acb files and back them up somewhere as a back up. You never know!
“In March 2022, the PANTONE Color Libraries that are pre-loaded in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Color, and Adobe Capture will be removed from future software updates. To minimize the impact of this change, we are working on an alternative solution for the affected products. Stay tuned for updates.”
statement published on Adobe’s helpdesk forum
You can as most of us designers do find the CMKK Mix for that Pantone and use that as one work around. Unless you need that Pantone.
For over 30 years Pantone colors have been a big part of the Adobe products.
PANTONE Connect is the only way to access all 15,000 market-relevant PANTONE colors. Which requires a monthly or yearly subscription to really do anything with that app.
No clue on if you used an existing Pantone in documents if they still will be in the Swatches pallet or if you would have to subscribe to get that color active again. However, there is talk it should be embedded, but it might be outdated.
