Alignment

We do a test print. If it is double sided, we make sure it is properly adjust. Sometimes we have to move one side or both to align.

Paper type, size, weight etc

You have to set the paper to the proper paper size, weight and type for it to print correctly.

Troubleshooting issues

Sometimes you have to troubleshoot errors and/or paper jams. Or more.

Color checking

We also have to check to make sure the color is correct and adjust accordingly. Some companies require exact color match.

Calibrate color

Speaking of the above color checking, often have to do color calibrations too.

Printer part change

Some print jobs require part changes, such as fuser, charger unit, etc. Or even toner cartridges or even toner waist removal.

Waiting on other jobs print in queue

Then there are prior print jobs on the queue you most print first.

That is just a handful of reasons why there is more to printing at your local print shop. This is for digital printing.

Did you know some digital printers are as long as a semi trailer or longer.

Offset printing has some similarities.
